Emma records new PB at Ulster Schools' Swimming Championship (February 2016)
Emma Lennox represented Cullybackey College with pride at the Ulster Schools’ Swimming Championships held in Ballymena on Saturday 6th February 2016.
Cullybackey College entered Emma into the 100m Breast Stroke and 200m Individual Medley but on the day she was unfortunately only able to compete in one of her two entries.
Emma’s entry and previously recorded time for her 100m Breast Stroke was 2.02.30 and on the day she ‘darted’ 100m and came in almost 5 seconds under to acclaim a new PB of 1.57.44.
Well done Emma.
Emma Represents Cullybackey at Ulster Schools’ Swimming Championships (October 2015)
Emma Lennox, Year 8, represented Cullybackey College at the recent Ulster Schools’ Championships held in Ballymena on Saturday 3rd October 2015. Emma was our only representative at the Championship and wore the Cullybackey colours with pride!
In accordance with the 2 swim rule, she was entered for 50metre Backstroke and 100metre Individual Medley, where she swam all four strokes. She swam like she had never swam before, with a time of 53.76 seconds in her breaststroke and 1.51.85 in her Individual Medley…astonishing swims, against very tough competition.
Well done to Emma.
Rachael enjoys swim team victory (May 2015)
Congratulations to the Ulster Schools' Swim Team, including our very own Rachael Lennox, who were crowned Interprovincial Champions 2015 on Sunday 10th May in Dublin. Fantastic swimming from all with two new Ulster junior relay records.
Ulster Schools' Swimming (November 2014): Rachael Swims to Silver
Rachael Lennox represented Cullybackey College at the recent Ulster Schools' Championships held in Ballymena on Saturday 15th November 2014. Although Rachael is only 14 the age regulations surrounding this competition meant she had to swim at Intermediate Level against some 15 and 16 year olds. This was a bit of a surprise to her on the day to say the least!
In accordance with the entrance rules she was entered for 100m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle. She achieved a personal best and came 2nd in her 100m Backstroke (1.13.26) which qualified her for the final. She also achieved a personal best in her 100m Freestyle (1.07.75) coming 9th.
Only 6 qualified for the Backstroke final. She ‘rocketed’ her way down 4 lengths of the pool and came 2nd (1.13.19) achieving a very well deserved silver medal. This achievement also qualifies Rachael to be considered for the Ulster Schools’ Squad Training Camp held in Tenerife.
Well done Rachael!
Ulster Schools' Swimming - January 2014
The Cullybackey College swimming team represented by Rachel Lennox and Katie Morrow recently competed in the Ulster Schools' Swimming Gala on the 18th January 2014 at Ballymena Seven Towers Leisure Centre.
Both girls shown great determination and enthusiasm with their races, which contributed to their positive results.
Rachel entered the 100m Backstroke finishing in 11th place out of 43 with a time of 1.16.32. She also swam in the 200m I.M. - her first time in the event - receiving an excellent time of 2.53.17 and being ranked 19th out of 59.
On the other hand Katie competed in the 100m Frontcrawl event with a very rewarding time of 1.11.00 placing her 19th out of 67. She also entered the 100m I.M. with a time of 3.01.60.

Swim Ulster Development Gala (8th December 2013)
Rachael Lennox 'Swims Home' with 2 Gold and 1 Silver Medal
Rachael swam outstandingly well and achieved personal best times (PBs) in her 3 swims at the Swim Ulster Development Gala held in Ballymena Leisure Centre. She obtained first place in 2 out of 3 heats, her times resulting in the presentation of 2 Gold and 1 Silver Medal.
Rachael swam at speed during her 200m Backstroke, achieving a time of 2.48.01 minutes, knocking 57 seconds off her previous time, winning her heat and a Gold Medal.
She continued during her 200m Freestyle to achieve a personal best time gaining an 11 second improvement on her previous time swimming in 2.40.18 minutes and winning a Silver Medal.
The 100m Breaststroke was her final swim where yet again she swam 8 seconds faster than previously, coming in at 1.32.01 minutes, winning a well coveted Gold Medal.
She swam exceptionally well on the day and was, not surprisingly, pleased with her results. Possibly the thought of meeting up with friends for Sunday tea helped her 'speed' up the lanes!!
Well done again Rachael.

Rachael Lennox and Katie Morrow recently competed at the Seven Towers Leisure Centre within the Ulster Schools' Swimming - Grammar Schools Gala. The competition brought together some very talented swimmers and competition was intense.

Katie also swam in multiple races including freestyle and an Individual Medley and again performed strongly in both heats. She achieved times of 31.37 seconds in her Freestyle event and 1.22.15 in her Individual Medley.
The girls gave a huge effort and showed great determination, both earning a top ten ranking in this high performance competition. Well done girls!
Ulster Youth and Age Group Championship
Well done to Rachael Lennox for her performances at the Ulster Youth and Age Group Championship held at Lisburn on 17th March.
Rachael swims for Ballymena Swimming Team and also swims for Cullybackey High School at local school galas. She did us all proud yesterday with a time of 1.19.30 (1 min 19 seconds). Rachael qualified for the Ulster Youth and Age Group Championship and on the day, against stiff competition, she came 10th in the preliminaries. She swam a fast, steady back stroke but narrowly missed a place in the final by 1 sec!! However her time has meant she has qualified for Swim Ulster Academy. Well done again!
